The jail ministry of Woodhaven Baptist Church works with and helps support the chaplaincy program at the Jackson County Adult Detention Center and Good news jail & Prison Ministry. This ministry delivers a message of hope and salvation to inmates, including preaching, teaching, encouraging and edifying new Christians. Approximately 100 bibles are distributed to inmates monthly along with hundreds of bible lessons to help them grow in the knowledge of the bible and the Lord.

Currently, our Associate Pastor, Gary Shirley serves as the full-time Chaplain of the jail ministering to inmates and staff alike. Our senior group, JOY, helps in various ways, such as funding bibles, assisting with an annual banquet to raise awareness of the ministry and celebrate what God has done and is doing in the jail, and hosting meetings of the volunteers involved with the ministry.
